Message from our Chief Scientific Officer

Dear readers,

As Chief Scientific Officer, I’m delighted to welcome you to our March edition. With exciting new members joining our team, including Chris Floyd in Early Development, we continue to strengthen our translational capabilities. At the same time, our presence at key conferences this month reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of industry changes and trends.

March also brings an opportunity to celebrate Women. As a woman in science, I’m particularly proud of the many brilliant female leaders across tranScrip who are helping drive progress for patients and partners alike.

Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to connecting with you, in person or online, throughout the month ahead.

Warm regards,
Linda Summerton, Chief Scientific Officer

Spotlight on Science: Celebrating Women Leading the Way

This month, we proudly celebrated International Women’s Day, a global moment to honour the incredible contributions of women across all sectors, including life sciences.

The theme for IWD 2025, #AccelerateAction, is a powerful call to drive faster progress toward equity and inclusion. At tranScrip, we’re fully committed to doing our part.

Women are not only present at the table, they are leading the conversation. Over 70% of our managers, 43% of our Executive Leadership Team, and 44% of our Board members are women. What’s more, 50% of our top 10 highest-paid employees are female, reflecting our commitment to equity not just in leadership and opportunity, but in reward.

We’re proud of the brilliant women at tranScrip who are shaping science, guiding strategy, and delivering impact for patients and partners. Their achievements inspire us daily and remind us why accelerating action toward an inclusive future matters.

Let’s continue to celebrate, elevate, and champion women in science, this month and every month.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Roz Sutton, Senior Regulatory Director at tranScrip, delivered three outstanding sessions that sparked curiosity, inspired future talent, and highlighted the real impact of regulatory affairs at TOPRA Regulatory Careers live last week.

Roz’s first talk, “What is Regulatory Affairs and How Does It Fit into the Bigger Healthcare Picture”, gave attendees a powerful overview of how regulatory professionals contribute to the process bringing safe and effective medicines to patients across the globe. From drugs inspired by snake venom to AI-assisted approvals, Roz made the complex world of pharma regulation come alive.

Her second session, “What’s it Like to Work in Regulatory Affairs?”, was equally engaging, sharing real-world insights into the challenges, rewards, and evolving landscape of this dynamic field. Roz’s career journey, from teaching in China to becoming a regulatory leader, reminded us all that diverse experiences can fuel successful, purpose-driven careers.

And finally, Roz talked about the challenges and rewards of a career in regulatory affairs noting that the evolving regulatory environment always offers the opportunity to learn which can be both challenging and hugely rewarding!

Key takeaways

  • Regulatory Affairs offers a bridge between drug developers and Regulatroy Agencies and is at the heart of innovation in healthcare.
  • It’s a career where science meets strategy, collaboration, and creativity.
  • There are many entry points into the field—and everyone has something to bring.

Thanks to Roz and everyone at TOPRA for helping to inspire the next generation of regulatory professionals!
